Making the Most of Your Disney Cruise While On-Board
Top 3 On-Board Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Tricks
Disney cruises are pretty amazing. With great services, unique kids experiences, tons of parental support (so everyone can enjoy their cruise), and some of the best food options, it’s surprising that there can be many ways to improve on your experience.
Just like last month, though, we’re bringing you our top three tips for enhancing your on-board experience when you’re sailing with Disney Cruise Line. There’s tons to plan and a lot to keep track of when you’re planning your family vacation. These sort-of secrets can make a lot of difference for your cruise! Take a look at our top three tips for Disney cruises sailing out of Port Canaveral.
1. Take Advantage of the Food Flexibility
One of my favorite things about Disney cruises is the food. Yes, Disney cruises tend to be a little more expensive than comparable Carnival or Royal Caribbean cruises, but it comes with some fantastic perks. One of these perks is the food.
Not only are the restaurants high quality with great servers (who stick with you through your cruise!), but the food is also free. Because the cost of your food is built into the cost of the cruise, you gain maximum flexibility with your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every appetizer, entree, dessert, and substitution is all-you-can-eat! Do you or your kids love a particular meal? Order two! There are no limitations, and the staff are happy to help you get the most out of your meal. On a Disney cruise, there’s no reason to ever go hungry!
However, remember to be responsible. As decadent as it is to order three lobsters, don’t do this unless you’re actually going to be able to eat most of them. Your servers and the ship will thank you.
2. Download the Navigator App
Every evening, your stateroom attendant will leave a printed copy of the next day’s schedule in your room. Need an extra? They’re provided at Guest Services as well. The schedule, called the Navigator, is vital to planning your day and making sure that you know all the awesome things going on during the cruise. Not only does it have the schedule, but it also has the hours for the different places on-board, like the restaurants. Truly, it is your lifeline to your activities!
And, like everything else in today’s world, there’s an app for it as well. Disney’s Navigator app is a great investment for your phone before you get on the ship. It’s free, and you’ll be able to carry the Navigator around in your pocket much easier. The menus for restaurants, payments features, and scheduling feature are also available through the app – not just the schedule. The Navigator app can make your cruise just a little more magical, and it runs for free off of the ship’s Wi-Fi.
Oh, and did we mention that it has a built-in on-board chat function? The app lets you text other people on the ship, keeping communication much simpler than before with the Wave phones.
The only down-side is that sometimes that app schedule is different from the paper Navigator. When this happens, trust the printed schedule! While this may end up encouraging you to carry around the paper Navigator, having the app lets you do so much more that it’s definitely worth having both.
3. Enjoy Your Kid-Free Beach Days
While going on a cruise with all of your adorable, amazing kids is awesome – it doesn’t mean that you can’t have some peace and quiet. One of the secrets to making your Disney cruise an adult paradise is taking advantage of Disney’s adults-only beachfront at Castaway Cay – Serenity Bay. Serenity Bay is an 18+ paradise for those looking for a small escape from the hubbub of children. Leave your children with the Kid’s Club when you arrive; the counselors from on-board will supervised.
This oasis is located at the end of the Cay. Walk or take the tram, and get ready to enjoy a tropical oasis. You’ll have access to lounge chairs, umbrellas, barbecue, a bar, and live music. You can also choose to rent a float or pay for a massage to put the cherry on top of the day. This is seriously a great, relaxing get-away for any adults who are seeking some respite from the chaos of the ship!
