Every year we have new and exciting things coming to Port Canaveral and the Space Coast. Whether it’s new ships, a revamped cruise terminal, opening restaurants, or festival opportunities, Port Canaveral has always got something up it’s sleeve to surprise and delight our visiting tourists. So, with the new year of 2019 in full swing, what delights can we expect from Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian? Grab your sunglasses and your passports, and get ready for an awesome year of beaches, swimming pools, great food, and exotic locations! Brevard County is ready to wow you with our upcoming changes this year. The latest in Port Canaveral news is the additions and changes to our fleet this 2019!
Proclaimed to be an inspiration to all those travelling on and within its decks, the Carnival Elation is sure to bring tons of fun to Port Canaveral this Spring when it sails in to port in April. Here at Port Canaveral, we are very fond of the Carnival ships, so it’s no surprise that we’re home-porting another Carnival cruise ship this spring. (And have you heard about the Carnival Radiance??) Even though the Elation is one of the smaller ships in Carnival’s fleet, there’s still plenty to do on-board for friend and family groups. There’s many opportunities for children to play as well as a water park and a whole lot of dining opportunities. The only downside is that there’s only a single pool and fewer shopping activities on the ship. But don’t let that deter you. There’s PLENTY to do on-board still. And you can always supplement the fun with off-ship activities when you reach your tropical destinations. Plus, it has a solid rating of 4/5 stars on CruiseCritic.com.
Many people know about the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas, any other Oasis class ship, and how they are so dang BIG! The Norwegian Breakaway is like that, but it’s a Norwegian Cruise Line ship instead. Starting in November, the Norwegian Epic will be replaced by the Breakaway – and boy, are we excited! The “Freestyle” experience that the Norwegian boasts is great for a variety of cruising styles, and you can pick and choose what special, exotic additions you want to schedule along with your base package for cruising. There is so much to do and see on the Norwegian Breakaway that most cruisers find that they are on a whirlwind of adventure even while traveling between ports. So, whether you just want to enjoy the perks of the basic package or upgraded with extras that you pick and choose, the Breakaway has lots for all! The only downside is that this ship does not offer many “traditional” cruise experiences that some may look forward to.
Norwegian Sun fans will be excited to find out that this NCL cruise vessel will be returned to Port Canaveral in April 2019. Instead of a seasonal stay in our favorite port, the Sun will actually be here year-round! And have any of you been excited to try out one of the new cruises to Cuba? The recently refurbished cruise ship will be going to both Cuba and the Caribbean starting in April. With the new cruise destinations come new things aboard the ship too. Within the ship, there are several new Cuban restaurants, lounges, and shops for you to enjoy. There are no water parks or slides, but the staples of NCL remain. You’ll be able to enjoy a smaller cruise with beautiful, exotic destinations where you can enjoy exciting activities, live music, and great food! Depending on which cruise you choose, there’s options for those looking for a more mature crowd or a family friendly cruise!
Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas
The Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas is the largest cruise ship, but the Harmony is right behind in size. This grand ship will be porting with us in May 2019 alongside the Mariner and replacing the Oasis of the Seas. However, the Harmony of the Seas has loads to offer in place of the Oasis! The ship was once the largest cruise ship in the world, which means that there’s never a lack of options for what to do on-board. With slides, water activities, an ice rink, rock climbing, and more, you’ll never be bored! The spotlight? The Ultimate Abyss Slide. There’s also leisurely activities to enjoy like shows, shopping, dining, and spas. Pamper yourself or play all day whether you’re with family or friends! The packed Harmony also has clever design elements to fight crowds. So, while there will be many people to interact with and schedule around, you won’t feel overwhelmed.
Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas
Yes, the Mariner of the Seas may be older, but it’s surprising how well the renovations on-board changed that perception for cruisers. Returning alongside the Harmony, this cruise ship is fresh and full of fun things to do, new dining experiences, and a beautiful set-up on deck. This ship is smaller, but the weekend itinerary and activity-filled days will keep you entertained from sun-up til sun-down (and even longer!) Most cruisers say that they rarely experience slow lines (or lines at all), so you’ll never feel crowded or bored with your options. This ship is replacing the Enchantment, so get your cruise schedules soon to experience the fresh feel of a new arrival in Port Canaveral!
